destructive skiing trip

Drummy kindly invited me skiing for the weekend, unfortunately there was not very much snow, so we had to make do with mud and rock, which is still fun, particularly if you are using somebody elses skis, which I wasn't.
I caught the sleeper train from Paris to Annecy, and shared a cabin (that seemed to have been built using parts left over from 1970s fitted kitchen units) with a man who cheerfully regaled me with his memories of bicycle racing in the 1950's.
