Iona

My flatmate Iona has a special talent for using domestic objects in new and exciting ways, here she is standing on an upside down frying pan, and nailing together a chest of drawers with her shoes.
Maybe she could go on tv?

Sexy show

The other day a friend from Besancon came to stay, we went for a walk around Pigalle and Montmartre. This is without doubt the seediest part of the town, full of filthy clubs and cinemas which show sexy DVDs in "booths". I'm not too sure what you are supposed to do in your "booth", I don't like to think about it, but they seem frequented by lonely middle aged men.
There's even a museum of erotica, which is the same thing with an intellectual gloss to make it socially acceptable for people like us to visit it.
We also went to the Cafe Amelie Poulain, which is just like any other cafe in Paris, but more expensive and with even less interest in keeping the customer happy, if such a think is possible. I took a picture of it, but as it looks like any other cafe, it hardly seemed worth putting it up.

hello again

A few people have recently complained about the lack of updates to my blog. Frankly, I'm surprised that they haven't got anything better to do than gawp at this tedious drivel, nevertheless, I'm flattered that you bother to look.
The trouble is that it requires effort to do, and time, and I'm a bit short of both. Also, my life isn't really all that interesting. Nevertheless, I'll try my best.

montmartre

Sunday, the weather in Paris has gone from high summer to mid winter in the space of a week. This is good as it seems to have killed off the mosquitios that were plaguing my bedroom at night. It has also made me aware how inadequate my winter clothes are, I think I need to buy some serious arctic gear. If anyone wants to knit me a hat or gloves then I'll be very grateful...
We went for a walk up to the Sacre coeur in Montmartre, which was less full than usual with tourists this time of year, and is beautiful enough to justify all the other annoyances of living in Paris.
