archie's pie

archie sent me this picture of a pie, made by me or him sometime in the past. It certainly looks delicious. Are those raisins for eyes?

Out and about

On Sunday afternoon I went for a walk around the Canal St Martin and Gare de l'Est with my camera, here are a few pics.

A recent breakfast, prepared by me

Here we have two halves of a baguette, the left piece is covered in apricot jam, the right one in cherry, the cup contains some tea.

A big thankyou

Flat

Now for some pictures of the flat, after several tiresome trips to ikea to buy unpronounceable items of flatpack furniture and eat meatballs, we finally have sofas, curtains, tables etc (or inflopp, boastad and klubbo as they are called in the catalogue).
I think we're going for a minimalist theme, ie; not very much stuff.
Nevertheless, I have managed to arrange my three posessions into a mess, so that somehow I now can't find any of them, this is quite annoying, but at least adds excitement to my mornings, as I hunt for keys, phone, metro pass, umbrella etc (the latter has been missing for 1 week now, which is a shame because it had lovely gold coloured picture of the Eiffel Tower on it)
Sorry the pictures aren't terribly good, I'll take some better ones in daylight.

wednesday

went to orleans to look at some offices being built, saw a big machine drilling holes in the ground, and a crane lowering steel "I" beems into holes to form basement retaining walls. As you can see, I'm never short on dinner party conversation.

First entry

Since everyone I've ever known seems to have started a blog over the last week, I figured I should give it a try.
For anyone who has managed to avoid speaking to me for the last 6 months, I accidently got a job in France starting 3 weeks ago, and I still haven't been fired. How long this state of affairs can continue is anybody's guess, but as far as I can see, in this country being lazy and unhelpful is seen as a positive attribute in the workplace, so I think I'm in with a chance.
So far most of my days have been spent eating lunch and getting confused by the office coffee machine, but with luck some interesting things will happen to me which I can put on this site for you to not bother reading.
